The cottage is a delightful example of a truly blissful country retreat with its thatched roof, cosy but spacious interior and wonderfully manicured gardens. Riverside Cottage gives a feeling of tranquillity and seclusion as soon as you enter its long driveway with everything a countrygoer may want and yet within walking distance of the little hamlet of Bansbury with its village pub, shop and church.

This charming much loved home is within easy reach of the historic City of Winchester with its excellent shopping and restaurants . However, the setting is so pretty you may not want to leave at all! There is an impressive kitchen/ breakfast room at the heart of the property with a traditional AGA, that no true country cottage is without, and is ideal for entertaining. This in turn opens out on to the substantial conservatory that has wonderful views of the surrounding grounds as well as being a lovely suntrap to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast to prepare for the day ahead. The cottage has no shortage of traditional charm with original wood beams, comfy beds, unique furniture and cosy log burner to relax by and unwind after a long country walk.

Outside the grounds are extensive, with an adventure playground, trampoline and a lovely private outdoor swimming pool with large terrace for sun worshipers in the summer months. Although Riverside Cottage is set beside a river the 5 acre garden is fully fenced and gated to ensure everyone's safety. Everything is catered for so that your stay is a pleasure, there is plenty of parking for 10+ cars, Wi-Fi and entertainment facilities. No wonder the Riverside Cottage featured in The Sunday Times '25 great British holiday rentals' and guests return year after year.

Local Information about Winchester, Hampshire

Riverside Cottage is located in a little hamlet called Bransbury, close to the village of Barton Stacey with a beautiful church, post office, pub and shop. Whilst in easy reach of the A303 and 10 miles from the historic city of Winchester. This is perfect countryside for long walks, horse riding and fishing, as well as trips to the beach and afternoons spent in village pubs.

The Test Valley around Stockbridge is well worth exploring as is Winchester with its famous cathedral. Salisbury, Romsey and the New Forest are all within a 30 minute drive and Southampton and the Hamble are just 20 minutes away.

Winchester itself was the ancient capital of England and has a plethora of local historic attractions such as Winchester Cathedral, King Arthur's Round Table, Jane Austen's House and nearby Stonehenge to name but a few. The local area also offers a fantastic choice of shooting grounds and fishing lakes. Families can enjoy the attractions at Paulton's Park - the now famous 'Peppa Pig' world, Marwell Wildlife Park or a ride on the Watercress line steam railway.

Well worth a visit to the market town of Alresford, a real treat. Alresford (pronounced Allsford) is a beautiful Georgian Town which for many centuries was a prosperous wool town. Old Alresford is mentioned in the Doomesday Book but the present town of New Alresford did not come into existence much before 1200.

Southampton International Airport is 12 miles away, ideal for the overseas visitor. Another 10 miles will deliver you to the heart of The New Forest, which has something for everyone. A camera is a must as there is so much to see and do. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, pub lunches, historic buildings, ancient trees, walks and routes are a few to mention. Or for the more adventurous, why not hop on a ferry to the Isle of Wight. Wightlink operate a car ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth.

If you are looking for the beach, you are spoilt for choice with many stunning sandy beaches. Milford On Sea is nearby with it's shingle beach providing views of The Needles and Christchurch Bay or Barton On Sea which is known for it's safe beach with stunning Vista's.
