Sophurst Cottage is located on a quiet lane just off the B2160, outside Matfield. Matfield's claim to fame is that Siegfried Sassoon, the famous World War I poet, was born and raised in Matfield. His book, 'The Old Century' describes his life in the area before 1914. Village life offers a few shops and gastro pubs, all a short walk from your cottage. Or drive in 10 minutes to the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells with so much on offer.
