Cowden Cottage Summary

Set back from the High Street, in the middle of a quiet terrace lies the gorgeous 18th Century, Grade II listed Cowden Cottage.

The front door leads into the cosy sitting room, with deep, comfortable sofas and an inviting log burner - a perfect place to unwind after a long walk in the rolling countryside of the surrounding Weald and Ashdown Forest, exploring Tunbridge Wells or visiting one of the many castles, National Trust sites or golf courses in the area. The sitting room leads through to the modern well-equipped kitchen, which has a great dining space with smart high-backed chairs to relax in after dinner.

The stairs lead to the first floor, with a calm master bedroom - the furnishings offering a nod towards the country cottage feel but with a tasteful contemporary style - and the shared bathroom complete with hand-laid pebble floor. From the landing, the second flight of stairs lead to the second bedroom, which is set as a twin but can be configured as a super king-size on request.

Local Information about Cowden, Kent

Cowden is old Wealden Iron country, and in 1573 had its own blast furnace making guns and cannon balls for the Army and Navy. Another intriguing fact is that Roger Hargreaves - creator of the Mr Men and Little Miss series, lived here during the 1980s! Within a short stroll is the traditional Fountain Inn pub and a short drive you can reach Hever and Chiddingstone Castles, Penshurst Place, the Ashdown Forest and Chartwell - home of Winston Churchill. There are several golf courses and Lindfield Racecourse nearby, and Cowden train station is 1 mile away.
