Local Information about Doddington, Kent

The property is about a mile from the village of Doddington with pub, garage, general stores and children's playground. Closeby is the village of Milstead which also has a pub.

The house is part of the Torry Hill Estate and holidaymakers will have full use of the estate and its 30 km of woodland paths and bridle paths. On the estate there is an established circular walk through the elegant parkland and along a Victoria carriage drive. In the Spring the bluebell woods and blossom from the cherry orchards are a sight to see! There is a riding stable nearby for horse riding and mountain bikes are available for hire together with maps of recommended routes through the estate's woodland. In addition clay pigeon shooting can be organised by prior arrangement.

The county town of Maidstone is 9 miles away to the north with the historic cathedral city of Canterbury within 25 minutes. Access to the Channel Tunnel is at junction 12 of M20 and it can be reached in half an hour - crossings take 35 minutes. Bookings can be made via the link on our website. For day trips to London, there is a regular service every half hour from Sittingbourne which takes about an hour. The North Kent coast is only a few miles away, where the reserves at Elmley and Oare offer some of the best bird watching in the south-east, especially in Winter.

Further afield the house is well placed for visits to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens, the naval dockyards at Chatham or a visit to the wonderful medieval castles dotted right along the Kent and Sussex coast (we have more castles in Kent than any other county!). For further ideas please look at our 'things to do' section of the website.
