Local Information about Dungeness, Kent

This luxury holiday cottage is situated in Dungeness, Kent, and is in an unspoilt area on the southernmost corner of the bay that stretches from Folkestone to Romney Marsh. It is an area of special scientific interest in Kent, has a renowned bird sanctuary and observatory and is protected from future development. Those who visit love to hike and explore the wild landscape, with the shingle formation one of only two like it in the world! The Old Lighthouse is a popular visitor's attraction, those fit enough can go to the very top for dramatic views in all directions, a place for proposals plus they even have a wedding license for the big day!

This self catering luxury holiday cottage in Kent is within easy walking distance of The Pilot Pub, renowned throughout Kent for its sea food, with The Old Smokehouse offering a wide range of smoked fish and fresh fish readily available from the local fisherman.

The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch steam railway passes close by to this self catering holiday cottage in Kent with the miniature steam train meandering all along the coast to Hythe, a wonderful way to enjoy the Kent's fine scenery. In addition, for a fun day out from the luxury Kent holiday cottage, the Lifeboat station at Dungeness, Kent, is open to the public with a stroll though Derek Jarman's quirky driftwood garden a local novelty.

The wonderful smugglers town of Rye with its choice of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants is only 10 miles away, whilst the historic town of Hastings (we all know of the battle in 1066!) and the pretty town of Winchelsea are also with a 40 minute drive of Dungeness, here why not visit the eclectic choice of antique and bric a brac shops and the Jerwood Gallery.

If you are looking to build sandcastles or enjoy a range of watersports why not go 6 miles along the coast to Camber Sands.

Inland attractions include Tenterden with its charming high-street of quintessentially English tea rooms, cafes and shops and why not sample the local wines from the vineyards at Chapeldown and Benenden.
