Pets are welcome to accompany you and will love racing across the adjoining field which the owner is happy for you to use. The property is set off a quiet road away from the main Whetsted Road but you will hear some traffic noise. Surrounded by the picturesque farmland of the Weald where once upon a time there were hop gardens stretching as far as the eye could see. Relive this time by visiting one of the last working hop farms within the area and now an award winning visitor attraction The Hop Farm Country Park, just a short walk away. Grapevine Lodge is hidden away from the rest of the world and is equipped for a relaxing holiday in the country.

The bustling village of Paddock Wood is within a few minutes drive and here you will find a wide range of shops and facilities for your everyday needs. Additional local market towns offer excellent shopping and the area is well known for antique shops, visit Brenchley and West Malling and Tunbridge Wells to name a few! Moreover, Paddock Wood boasts a cultural element with Mascalls Gallery offering famous artist exhibitions frequently for you to visit during your stay at Grapevine Lodge.

For those seeking a wider and more up-to-date selection of shops Kents county town of Maidstone is 20 minutes drive away or Bluewater, one of the largest shopping developments in Europe, is less than an hour door-to-door.

Furthermore, Grapevine Lodge is within a short distance of both Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. Tonbridge is a thriving town with an excellent 42 minute train service to London Charing Cross or to the seaside at Hastings! Or there is a 45 minute train from Paddock Wood. There are so many places to visit from Grapevine Lodge, you are spoilt for choice.

Tonbridge Castle with its wonderful Gatehouse, takes you back almost 740 years! Set in landscaped gardens with picturesque grounds overlooking the River Medway, Tonbridge Castle is reputedly England's finest example of a Norman motte and bailey castle. Tours are available from the Tourist Information Centre. There is a great bookshop located in this part of Tonbridge, Mr Books, in a beautiful medieval building. Tonbridge even has its own theatre, The Oast Theatre inside the 19th Century Kentish oast house, with 10 productions every year!

There are a variety of wonderful houses and gardens to visit, including the National Trust properties such as Ightham Mote (15 minutes' drive), Hever Castle and Scotney Castle (20 minutes drive), both moated castles, Knowle, near Sevenoaks and Chartwell, the home of Winston Churchill, near Westerham. Bodiam Castle, although in Sussex, is only 30 minutes' drive and Penshurst Place is not far from the holiday cottage, with beautiful gardens and a fun adventure playground for children.

Bedgebury Forest and National Park is only 20 minutes' drive away, which is a stunning area of natural beauty miles of walks and cycling paths, including 'Go Ape,' a hugely fun activity where you can swing through the trees. Nearby Bewl water is the largest area of inland water in the South-East. If you are a water sports enthusiast, this is the place to visit with lots of activities including sailing, canoeing and wind-surfing. Bowles Outdoor Centre, is situated just 15 minutes away where you can learn to rock climb, build rafts and even ski on the 2 dry ski slopes.

A visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells is a must. It's a very attractive town with great shopping facilities. It was established as a spa town in Georgian times and was very popular under Richard (Beau) Nash when the Pantiles and its Chalybeate Spring attracted visitors from all over Europe who wanted to try the waters. Nowadays, it is a pleasant place to wander, admire the architecture and visit its antique shops and cafes. Great for those who love shopping too!
