The perfect hide-away for two to relax and unwind. Located on the outskirts of the two towns with all their amenities they have to offer yet in an ideal location for visiting the abundance of things to do and see in the area and further afield. The coastline with beautiful sandy beaches and all the fun of the seaside, London packed with some the of the most exciting and interesting attractions in the country, and the Channel Tunnel for that "continental experience" are all just an hour away. Please note: The property is not suitable for children under 14.

Local Information about Tonbridge, Kent

In the area there is an excellent network of footpaths, from a short stroll to a full day's walk. For those who like gardening, there is a wonderful variety of gardens of all types shapes and sizes open to visitors in and around Pembury. However the area is not just blessed with beautiful scenery but has some of the finest golf courses in the UK that offer truly unique golfing experiences. And ladies, why not stop the clock and indulge in some precious 'me-time', pampering body and mind with a day at one of the top-quality spas dotted around the Garden of England. As an alternative spend unhurried whole days in the gentle pursuit of retail therapy. The area is a shoppers' paradise - full of bargains and treats for the dedicated shopper.

For the perfect end to the perfect day you will be spoilt for choice. Relish the comforts of a traditional or gastro pub meal in town or away from it all in the glorious countryside and enjoy a concert at one of the many nearby theatres, or catch the latest film at a 3D multi-screen cinema. Boasting several "Michelin star" restaurants close by, why not treat yourselves to an intimate dinner 'a deux' and create a magical and memorable finale to your holiday.

Under a 10-minute drive from Royal Tunbridge Wells, the lovely Georgian spa town is well worth a visit and the shopping is extensive full of boutiques and individual shops! Or why not take a day trip to France, the Euro star Train from Ashford or the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone will transport you to a French location in record time - just don't forget to pack your passport!

A 15 minute drive away is Tonbridge,a thriving town with an excellent 42 minute train service to London Charing Cross or to the seaside at Hastings! Tonbridge Castle with its wonderful Gatehouse, takes you back almost 740 years! Set in landscaped gardens with picturesque grounds overlooking the River Medway, Tonbridge Castle is reputedly England's finest example of a Norman motte and bailey castle. Tours are available from the Tourist Information Centre. There is a great bookshop located in this part of Tonbridge, Mr Books, in a beautiful medieval building. Tonbridge even has its own theatre, The Oast Theatre inside the 19th Century Kentish oast house, with 10 productions every year!

The beautiful and enchanting Penshurst Place and Gardens is 20 minutes from the holiday home, another exciting day out for you to enjoy during your stay at this holiday home. With plenty of activities such as crafts, mazes, garden trails and an adventure playground the whole family will enjoy this visit. Furthermore, dine out at any of the three fantastic places during your visit to the historical home, including The Garden Restaurant, The Porcupine Pantry and The Kiosk.

Under 30 minutes is Hever Castle, another charming day out for you to discover. Tour and learn of the 700 years of history this double-moated, magnificent 13th century castle has to offer. Hever Castle, once the home of Anne Boleyn, also has an audio tour for you to experience during your visit, whilst you walk around all the stunning gardens and admire the large lake. Take the children to go explore the adventure playgrounds and let them roam around the beautiful outdoors. As a real treat in the summer months (weather permitting), this castle boasts an exciting water maze for all the family's entertainment. Furthermore, one can hire a little boat during certain times of year, another fun aspect to Hever Castle.

Bedgebury Forest and National Park is under 20 minutes' drive away, which is a stunning area of natural beauty miles of walks and cycling paths, including 'Go Ape,' a hugely fun activity where you can swing through the trees. Nearby Bewl water is the largest area of inland water in the South-East. If you are a water sports enthusiast, this is the place to visit with lots of activities including sailing, canoeing and wind-surfing. Bowles Outdoor Centre, is situated just 20 minutes away where you can learn to rock climb, build rafts and even ski on the 2 dry ski slopes.
