Local Information about Tunbridge Wells, Kent

Hamilton House is located on the edge of the historic town of Tunbridge Wells in Kent.

You will find lots to do in this lovely Georgian spa town, with wonderful restaurants, cafes, small galleries and of course the famous Pantiles. The shopping is extensive, it is full of boutiques and individual shops. It was established as a spa town in Georgian times and was very popular under Richard (Beau) Nash when the Pantiles and its chalybeate spring attracted visitors who wanted to try the waters. Nowadays, it is a pleasant place to wander, admire the architecture and visit its antique shops and cafes.

Take a trip out to the surrounding villages where you can find lots of good walks and great pubs for lunch.

Groombridge Place is a short drive away with its wonderful gardens and raised wooden adventure walk through the woods. The giant swings in the Enchanted Woods are a must for any child or adult!

There are a variety of wonderful visitor attractions, including Scotney Castle, a National Trust 14th century moated castle, Bodiam Castle, Lewes Castle, Penshurst Place and Hever Castle. Bedgebury Forest and National Park is only 30 minutes' drive away, which is a stunning area of natural beauty miles of walks and cycling paths, including 'Go Ape,' a hugely fun activity where you can swing through the trees.

Again 30 minutes away is Bewl water - the largest area of inland water in the South-East. If you are a water sports enthusiast, this is the place to visit with lots of activities including sailing, canoeing and wind-surfing. Bowles Outdoor Centre, is situated just 10 minutes away where you can learn to rock climb, build rafts and even ski on the 2 dry ski slopes.
