This beautiful converted oast house has 2 bedrooms and a marvellous galleried first floor living room which oozes style and gives a contemporary twist to this lovely Grade II listed oast. Accommodation is of a high standard throughout. Of particular note is the large granite island in the kitchen, which is perfect for enjoying good company and aperitifs whilst preparing locally sourced Sussex fair. There is underfloor heating throughout, powered by an air source heat pump, giving the cottage great green credentials. There's an extra luxurious feel within the oast, as well as Sky TV for those cosy evenings in front of a good film.
The property is within the grounds of a working farm and adjacent to the owners property and gardens. There is a small terrace and, beyond the owner's garden, a grassed area with lovely views set aside for the guests. In the stable yard behind the oasthouse there is parking for up to two cars. A shared tennis court is available for guests also.

Local Information about Piltdown, Sussex
Mallingdown Oast house is in the Piltdown area, a tiny village in the heart of Sussex, and within walking distance of Fletching, one of the prettiest villages in locality. The farm is surrounded by Sussex countryside with footpaths accessible directly from your doorstep. Easily accessible from the A272 the property is 20 minutes from Haywards Heath and only 40 minutes from Gatwick airport.
On the southern edge of the Ashdown Forest, Piltdown is a unique holiday destination from which to explore the endless delights of the surrounding area. Glyndebourne, the world famous Opera House and a variety of National Trust and English Heritage properties and glorious gardens and towns are all close by - Michaelham Priory and Gardens, Nymans, Wakehurst Place and thrilling historic castles such as Bodiam and Lewes.
Plenty of outdoor pursuits are all within easy reach. Walking, cycling, horse riding and for a leisurely round of golf, the Championship Piltdown Golf Club is just up the road. Should you fancy a spot of fishing (permit required) you may be lucky enough to catch a trout on the River Ouse, reputed to have the heaviest weight trout on any English river!
Whilst you're in the area, why not explore the spectacular combination of Sussex coast and countryside that is 1066 Country with Roman remains, medieval monasteries, windmills, nature reserves, blue flag beaches and cosmopolitan marinas. Kids will love a trip to nearby Wilderness Woods or Drusillas wildlife park (18miles).
The property is within easy reach of the city of Brighton (18miles) Brighton is a buzzing metropolis full of restaurants, cafes, theatres and shops. Added to this the wonderful stretch of walkway along the Brighton Front allows you to stretch your legs after a lovely lunch in the city. Wander down the Laines, eat fish and chips on the pier and shop till you drop!
The spa town of Tunbridge Wells is definitely worth a visit. With its wonderful church spires and Georgian architecture, there is nothing more relaxing than sitting outside one of the many restaurants in the Pantiles enjoying a delicious coffee or glass of wine on a warm summer's day.
It's a 40 minute drive to Gatwick Airport and 10 minutes from the nearest train station at Uckfield (3 miles), where there is a regular service to London Bridge.
