Brighton and Hove is a must see destination, offering guests a wide range of events and activities to enjoy. Whether you are looking to soak up some culture in the Theatre Royal or in one of the many art and comedy festivals held in the city. With a good mixture of independent and high street restaurants, shops and cafes, it is possible to set the pace for your weekend from the start of the trip.
Brighton seafront is particularly well known for its alternative and quirky shops, eateries and fun fair rides. Buy some fresh cockles to eat whilst walking along the promenade. The fishing museum, which is free to enter, and the Victorian penny arcade are a fascinating insight into the past. The iconic pier provides traditional British seaside entertainment with rides, arcades and snack shops. Watch the donuts being made and the candy floss being whipped up, across the road is The Sealife Centre for those with a fishy fascination.
With Churchill Square shopping mall on the main road, ten minutes' walk from the seafront and Brighton Station, high street brands can be found alongside chain cafes and fast food establishments. A walk down North Street to the North Laine and The Lanes, to the south; takes you to an entirely different environment, wander the meandering lanes and admire the antique and jewellery shops. See if you can find the famous Choccywoccydoodah boutique shop and but some unique chocolate to take home!
Further afield, Brighton is 45 minutes on the train to London Victoria, and a short drive to the South Downs for stunning country walks.
